Write On Time: New Calligraphy Website!
This month comes with a lot of great news and announcements, let’s get to it!
For the past few months I have been working on a new educational site and I’m really proud to share it with all of you!
This website is the culmination of many years of hands-on calligraphy practice and study. It has been created with the intention of educating and bringing a contemporary light to calligraphy and its close younger cousin, typography—two elements that have always been present in my career since 2011.
The supplies page answers many questions my students have been asking for over a decade. My recommendations focus on simple and low-key materials that can take you far, as these are the same materials I have been using since my first time holding a calligraphy pen back in 1996 —that is last century!
The learning calligraphy section covers many aspects of calligraphy, such as styles, materials, guidelines, and a glossary of terms widely used in the letterform community.
The articles share my experiences in calligraphy and provide some handy typographic resources.
Finally, my courses offer self-paced learning experiences for everyone wanting to dive into the world of calligraphy, understand where our current alphabets come from, and learn which aspects have influenced their evolution.
I would like to thank all my calligraphy teachers for sharing their knowledge with me, starting with Keith Adams, Amanda Adams, Oriol Miró, Nina Tran, Luca Barcellona, Suzanne Cunningham and John Stevens.
Below you’ll find my brand new educational website; a collaboration with Black Ink Books and the Biennale of Sydney; and my upcoming font release with Arabic type designer Lara Captan.
On the third part of this newsletter, you’ll find two announcements: an upcoming talk at Contraforma Barcelona, Alphabettes celebrating a decade with a book; and my latest educational video on writing Neuland calligraphy with a bamboo pen.

For those seeking a more emotive narrative of my last two months, you’ll find a personal video describing our nomadic life, plus a few extra links at the end of this letter.
Writing Calligraphy | New Educational Site!
This website is the result of writing calligraphy regularly since 2011, and sharing knowledge since 2014. It is highly educational and full of resources for anyone interested in getting started, or learning more about the art of writing.

Turbulence & Transcendence | Biennale of Sydney
Last year I collaborated with Black Inc Books crafting 550 custom luxury cards for Turbulance & Transcendence: The First 50 Years by Brook Turner, which is a vivid account of the Biennale of Sydney’s first half-century in a sumptuous, extremely limited-edition volume with new insights, interviews and commentary.
When the Biennale of Sydney was founded in 1973, it was one of only three such events in the world. It is now the longest-running biennale in the Asia-Pacific region, attracting over 600,000 visitors to each edition. You can secure your copy here.

Kanat Latin: Upcoming Font Release!
Last year I started a collaboration with Arabic type designer Lara Captan, designing a Latin companion for her Arabic display font family called Kanat. Nowadays, I’m in the process of finalising the font file, and I’m happy to report that I’m just about to complete its 532 glyphs. This exercise has brought me many memories from my first release back in 2018. Full font coming up soon! Special thanks to Josema Urós for his mentorship on this project.

In-person Talk at Contraforma Barcelona
On March 13th, I’m giving a talk at Contraforma Barcelona. This is a very special occasion for me, as it will be the first time I’m sharing my work in Barcelona and speaking in my native languages. The talk is free, and you can register your attendance here.
